“The Weber Foundation of Helping Hands”
Celebrates 10 years of giving back!
October 1, 2010

The Weber Foundation of Helping Hands, Inc. is excited to share that their 10 year anniversary fundraiser “Creative Black & White Masquerade” event was a huge success raising nearly $100,000.

The red carpet was rolled out on North Ave in Melrose at the home of its President and Founder, Elizabeth Weber.  For the Foundation’s 10th Anniversary, Elizabeth wanted to celebrate in a special way, by going back to where it all began…her home.

It was an evening of treasured memories as guests enjoyed a variety of entertainment including dancing, silent auction an incredible buffet.   As costumed guests arrived they were greeted by a host of masked supporters who directed them to one of the many fun filled rooms at Weber’s home.  There were rooms where guests enjoyed the sounds of the big band era or they could move to the room where the violinist and pianist were entertaining.  There was also a silent auction room where guest were able to bid on some of the most elegant items or simply donate for a gift bag of hidden treasures.

The night was also special for 6 individuals/families who attended the event.  Elizabeth Weber presented grants to these families totaling $30,000.  To date; the foundation has helped over 308 families, and given out more than $730,000 to those in dire need suffering from life-threatening illnesses and other catastrophic situations.  It’s what the Foundation is all about.

The night was also special for our military!   In support of our “Helping Hands for Heroes” Freedom Fund, we raised $36,000 in 50/50 Raffles with $17,000 going to our Helping Hands for Heroes account and $17,000 to a lucky winter from Chestnut Hill, Ma. This fund was set up in 2003 to provide direct financial assistance to our servicemen and women who have been adversely affected by the war on terrorism.

What made the night even more special for its founder, Elizabeth Weber, was the fact that all monies raised were going to those in need.  The all-volunteer group of amazing people that she put together for this event donated their time and found generous people and businesses that donated the entertainment, decorations and food.  We applaud our generous volunteers and supporters!

Together we made a difference!
